It is being recognized as a major trigger of chronic pain and many major health disorders, such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, arthritis, and Alzheimer’s to name a few.  Our bodies are inflamed. They are on fire.

But when you walk on grass, sand or dirt barefoot aka Earthing, electrons enter your body through your feet.  And researchers are finding out that these electrons are some of the most powerful antioxidants available.

Natural antioxidants are produced by your body regularly, but the rate at which it does this decreases as we age. To make up for this, it’s important to find other sources to get these much needed antioxidants. And one of the best ways, aside from eating healthy foods, is by Earthing.

Our bodies are conductive. We are able to transmit electricity. The free radicals in our bodies which lead to disease are positively charged. However, the Earth is negatively charged. By bringing the two together, we can balance our internal electrical systems. It’s these systems that transfer nutrients, make our heartbeat and communicate between the brain and the body.

We have become increasingly distant from the Earth. We don’t eat as much food from the earth as years ago. Food is not meant to come in packages. We wear rubber and plastic shoes, we drive rather than walk even for short distances, our homes and businesses have carpets, metal, glass and plastic. We are surrounded by technology which causes more electrical imbalances on our body systems. We are bombarding our bodies with contaminates while ignoring one of the biggest health benefits so easily available – the Earth.

Did you ever lay on the grass and look at the stars? Or walk on the sand? And wondered why you felt more relaxed? You were grounding yourself and connecting to the charges from the Earth that your body needs.

Black Bean Burgers

If watching carbs, you can serve these in Romaine or Leaf Lettuce wraps instead of a bun or bread. You can also freeze the uncooked burgers.

If watching carbs, you can serve these in Romaine or Leaf Lettuce wraps instead of a bun or bread. You can also freeze the uncooked burgers.

Servings: burgers
Preheat Grill or Oven
  1. If grilling, preheat grill on high or if baking, preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Mix ingredients
  1. In a bowl, mash beans with fork until thick and pasty.
  2. In a food processor, blend Onion, Red Bell Pepper and Garlic.
  3. Remove from processor, place blended ingredients on paper towel and squeeze out water, return to processor.
  4. Add soaked Rolled Oats and pulse to blend.
  5. Then add Breadcrumbs and spices and pulse to blend.
  6. Last add Black Beans and pulse to blend.
Prepare burgers
  1. Put mixture in bowl and refrigerate about 15 minutes before rolling into burgers this helps burgers to hold together.
  2. If grilling, place on wood grill slab (or aluminum foil, I do not cook on aluminum) and cook about 8 minutes per side.
  3. If baking, place on baking sheet and bake about 10 minutes per side.
  4. Add cheese last few minutes of cooking.
  5. Add toppings before serving.

  2. I love to walk barefoot, and I try to get outside to stand on the grass barefoot at least once a day. There is something so intuitively calming about it. Thanks for explaining the science.
