Are You Afraid to Trust Your Intuition?

Women are known to be inherently more intuitive than men. But why are we so afraid sometimes to trust our intuition?

It can be as simple as a feeling that you should go on a trip. And when you do, you meet your soul mate.

Or like when I decided to move across the country knowing no one and having no job.

I couldn’t explain why I chose to move to Las Vegas (I didn’t gamble and partying all night was not my thing) but I JUST KNEW this was where I needed to be. And I am ever thankful that I listened to my intuition.

But tuning in to our intuition is not always easy. There are so many things going thru our mind:

   DOUBT

      FEAR

         WORRY

              WHAT WILL OTHERS THINK

That it scares us into not listening.

Plus there is SELF-JUDGEMENT that tells us we aren’t capable of doing something that might be out of our comfort zone.

Some people relate to their intuition thru angels and spirit guides.

Or maybe feel a gut instinct.

Whatever it takes to get your attention is usually how we explain our intuition.

But no matter how you get there, when you choose to follow your intuition it just feels so positive and right. It’s a knowing.  It’s the deepest connection you can have to your inner self.

So how might we learn to make this connection to our inner self?

  1. SPEND QUIET TIME WITH YOURSELF

When there are no distractions, it becomes easy to listen to your inner self. There is a peace in quiet stillness which allows your body to slow down so you can listen to your mind. And you don’t have to do this for hours.  Just make time every day – a couple of minutes will work – to just sit in quiet.

  1. SPEND TIME IN NATURE

Being outside – walking, exercising, gardening, meditating – helps to ground us which helps us to think more clearly. (Here’s a link to a blog I wrote more specifically about this:

     http://livebalancednaturally.com/standing-on-the-earth-with-our-bare-feet-earthing/)

Plus getting that Vitamin D from the sun helps also!

  1. JOURNAL

There is something about writing that can help to clarify things. The physical act of writing connects with our brain allowing our thoughts to be expressed.

  1. DON’T LISTEN TO OTHERS

This is probably easier said than done. We are always looking for affirmation from our family or friends. But sometimes they don’t always have our best interest at heart. They might not want you to do something from a selfish point of view. If you move who will take care of them? Or who will I have to go to the movies with? Believe me, if I had listened to all the naysayers, I wouldn’t be where I am now in my life.

  1. PAY ATTENTION

If we are doing the same thing day after day, it becomes a habit and we sometimes tune out to what is going on around us just to get it done. But it’s important, if you want to learn to connect to your inner self, to pay attention to what is happening around you.

There might even be signs our subconscious sends to let us know the action we need to take.

Dreams are one way our subconscious mind tries to get through to us.

Another way is maybe not physically seeing something but it keeps running through your mind.

I lived in Michigan, but I kept seeing (in my mind) palm trees. That sure was a hint that I needed to move someplace warm!

  1. TRUST

Learn to trust yourself. You are the only person who knows yourself the best.

Don’t allow someone else to make decisions for you – you will never be happy or living up to your full potential.

There probably have been times in all our lives where we were afraid to trust our intuition. How many times have you said, “If only I’d……”?

I’d love to hear from your thoughts on trusting your intuition.

In Peace and Good Health,

Patti

It’s vegan, gluten and grain free.

The Lentil Pasta is healthier than grain pasta.

The tomatoes are full of vitamins.

And the dairy free cheese melts and tastes like dairy cheese.

A much healthier alternative to the traditional pasta bake!

As always, organic ingredients are best.

  1. I try and trust mine and if I listen she is pretty smart. I do think maybe my intuition just may be dressed as a crazy cat lady type though… maybe I should name her magda and she wears caftans. She encourages me to sit in the sun and spend my time home alone with my cats.

Love it!! Great name for your intuition! Maybe you should do just that. Who knows, you might get an inspiration for some wonderful new idea?

  3. It can be a challenge to trust ourselves because it is easy to listen to others and then blame them. This is a great reminder.

Thanks. And you are so right, it is easy to blame others for our choices. But when it comes down to it, we actually made the choice and have to take responsibility for it.

  5. This post came at the right time – I had a fascinating dream (and it involved bloggers, believe it or not!) right before I woke up this morning. I think the message I was being given was pretty clear – and I had forgotten all about t until I tookte time to read your blog post. Now, I’m pondering it.

That’s awesome! It’s amazing how much we can learn from our dreams if we just pay attention.

  7. It is always important to remember that the happiness lies within. You are the only person that can make you happy.
