Midlife crisis, crossroad, whatever you call it, I never actually thought about it. All I knew was that it was time to make some changes in my life if I was going to be happy.
So after 25 years of marriage and owning a dance studio for the same amount of time, I sold most of my household furnishings and moved across the country – not knowing anyone or having a job. I just knew this was what I had to do.
It wasn’t easy, but I survived. No drugs needed for depression or anxiety. I actually felt peaceful.
This was when having a healthy lifestyle really helped.
A near death illness at age 7,(Stevens-Johnson Syndrome which is usually caused by an allergic reaction to a drug), made me aware of the harmful effects of toxins and chemicals in products we use every day and how they affect our health.My skin would actually peel off using certain soaps – no matter how mild they were. And forget commercial cleaning products. I would develop a rash in a second. So being aware of how unhealthy these products are on our bodies and using more natural products has always been a priority for me.
Eating healthy was pretty normal as I was growing up. Raised mostly on a “Mediterranean Diet”, fresh food was always in our home. Going to the Eastern Market in Detroit with my grandparents was a frequent trip I always looked forward to. I never knew what my grandma would cook with all those fresh veggies.
When my daughter was born, I made all her baby food from fresh ingredients. Even while I was running a business, she always had fresh foods.
I was “that lady” who passed out raisins and apples on Halloween!
Then when I moved to Las Vegas, I began to learn more about spirituality and meditation. (Yes, Las Vegas has two sides: Sin and Zen) This, along with keeping my body healthy physically, is what got me through the stressful years after moving.
But I have found that so many women do not take the time to learn about any of this, let alone apply it. Excuses rule! And before you know it – BAM! – you have a healthy issue which in most cases probably could have been prevented if you were living a healthy lifestyle.
As a graduate from the Institute of Nutritional Leadership, a certified Pilates, Yoga (including Trauma Recovery Yoga) and Qigong instructor, Holy Fire Usui and Karuna Reiki Master/Teacher, Seraphium Blueprint, and ARōMATOUCH® Technique Technician have helped me to understand, even more clearly, how important it is to live a healthy life. Also being an essential oil Wellness Advocate has given me the knowledge of how to use these plant based remedies as a natural solution in so many areas of our lives.
So now I’m on a mission to HELP WOMEN AT A CROSSROAD IN LIFE TO TAKE CHARGE OF THEIR LIFE so they can LIVE AGELESSLY!
